A six–word story is an entire story told in six words. It is a short narrative that can have all of the emotional themes of longer stories—from funny to dramatic, sad to scary.

| For sale: Used parachute. Never opened. (my version) | Dear Sally, I died well today. |
| Death stared. I shrugged then faded. | Dog’s collar hung for last time. |
| The eyes in the wardrobe, blinked. | Through the keyhole, it stared back. |
